Dr. K. L. Garg
(Feb 4, 1916 – April 6,1951)

Great luminaries become immortal in the annals of
time through their deeds and innate qualities. The best way one can pay tribute
to such great luminaries is by inculcating the ideals they stood for, following
diligently the lessons imparted by them and by steadily taking forward the work
initiated by them.An immortal martyr,
Late Dr. K. L. Garg was also one such great
luminary who heroically laid down his life at the altar of duty at the tender age of just 34 years. Even in the quite brief journey with
great humility,

for himself and his family an ideal and respectable position in the society on account
of his endeavours in the fields of education, his multifaceted approach to child
development and his managerial prowess.The year in progress marks 60 years since
he laid down his life. By establishing and keeping alive his ideals of making available
suitable opportunities for education and development of poor and destitute but promising
youngsters and bringing succor to the oppressed and needy lot, we can pay an honest
tribute to him and immortalize the supreme sacrifice he made, for all times to come.
Decorated with the degree of PHD at the precocious age of only 30 years, he came
to hold the post of the Principal of a Post-Graduate University and his successful
running of the institution is indisputable proof of his ability, sense of service,
brilliance, sharp wit and humility. In the span of just for years, at the post of
Principal, the business committee of the UP Education Board, the syllabus deciding
committee of Agra University, the business committee of Rajputana University and
the fact that for at least half a dozen of other Universities and Boards he became
the Controller of Examination and the Invigilator, are proofs of his brilliance
and proactiveness. People swore by the loftiness of his character, his deftness
in dealing with the work at hand,
his wisdom and his informed decision-making process.
He was forever dedicated to the cause of laying a firm foundation for the university,
instilling a culture of discipline and restraint in matters of management, initiating
student committees oriented towards development of knowledge and intellect, establishing
a culture of developing sound and healthy habits, oraganising sports activities
and turning out enabled and empowered students well versed in studies and sports
activities. In all his endeavours he received the full cooperation of all his colleagues
from the teaching fraternity who worked under him as members of one big family.
His students also loved him dearly and held him in great reverence. Such was
Dr.
Kanhaiya Lal Garg, that even today his memory brings tears in the eyes of people
